Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. wins first PSL championship since 2012

Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. held off Detroit Pershing 56-48 to earn its first Detroit Public School League Boys Basketball Championship since 2012. Ironically, King beat Pershing for the title in 2012. King led 30-16 at halftime and 39-33 after three quarters. Davin Walker scored 16 points to lead the Crusaders (15-2). Chansey Willis Jr.  scored 15 points. Omar Zeigler Jr. scored nine points in the victory. Tharrren Hill scored 15 points for the Doughboys (7-5).

Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. 50,
Detroit Henry Ford 43

Senior Omar Zeigler Jr. had a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and senior point guard Chansey Willis Jr. scored 11 points to lead the Crusaders. Shainen Carter had 10 points eight rebounds and four blocks. Davin Walker added nine points in the win.

Detroit Pershing 72, Detroit Douglass Academy for Young Men 64

Tharrren Hill had 33 points and Brian Woodland added 14 points for the Doughboys. Pierre Brooks II scored 22 points, including 14 in the first half, while Javantae Randle had 17 points for the Hurricanes.

Detroit Communication & Media Arts 63

Pierre Brooks II scored 28 and had 12 rebounds, Javantae Randle scored 15 with 14 rebounds, and Alexander Wiltz had 11 points for Douglass. Jermiah Henderson scored 36 for CMA .

Senior Mario Hill scored 17 points, junior Niko Williams totaled 13 points, and junior Kahlen Naope added 10 points Henry Ford.

Chansey Willis Jr. scored 29 points and Lamont Parks Jr. had 11 points for King. Kenjuan Andrews scored 21  for Western.
