Detroit Cass Technical uses  torrid comeback to win PSL boys basketball championship

Division 1 No. 1-ranked Detroit Cass Technical showed it can’t be counted out -- even when it was trailing rival Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. by 15 points with five minutes left in the fourth quarter of the Detroit Public School League boys basketball championship. The 20-0 Technicians scored on nine of their next 10 possessions to force overtime, and eventually win the PSL title, 74-70, in a hotly-contested battle. Cass Tech guard Darius Acuff -- who was presented with the Mr. PSL Basketball award at halftime -- scored 18 of his game-high 27 points down the stretch, including a three-pointer from the top of the key which tied the game at 64-64 with 41 seconds remaining in the fourth. He was also a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Chaz Lewless led King (9-7) with 25, but was held scoreless in overtime. It was the fifth PSL title for Cass Tech coach Steven Hall, who has led the Technicians to four in the past seven years.
