Detroit Renaissance wins PSL boys cross country championship
Detroit Renaissance won the Public School League Boys Cross Country Championship at Belle Isle. Renaissance finished with 19 points. Detroit Frederick Douglass was second with 52 points. Detroit Cass Technical was third with 71 points. Renaissance and Douglass runners took the top eight spots in the race. Renaissance freshman Ethan Watkins won the race in 17:57.1 Twin brother Elijah Watkins was second in 18:05.2. Renaissance freshman Marcel Lake was third in 19:04.7. Douglass senior Andrew Bowers was fourth in 19:29.0, edging Renaissance freshman Chase Jackson (19.29.1).

Detroit Renaissance wins PSL girls cross country championship
Detroit Renaissance edged rival Detroit Cass Technical to win the Public School League Girls Cross Country Championship. Renaissance finished with 27 points. Cass Tech was one point behind with 28 points. Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. was third with 78 points. Cass Tech edged Renaissance in the 2021 PSL final on a tie-breaker. Renaissance and Cass Tech runners took the top 11 spots in the race. Renaissance sophomore Lauren Bickerdt repeated as champion, running a 20:21.7 race. Cass Tech sophomore Paris Williams was second at 21:14.5. Renaissance freshman Rhian Jeffries was third at 21:59.7. Cass Tech junior Angel Alexander was fourth at 22:44.0. Cass Tech sophomore Ziomarea Lewis was fifth at 22:46.3.
