Detroit Western International repeats as PSL Boys Soccer Champions
Detroit Western International downed Detroit Cass Technical 4-1 to repeat as Detroit Public School League Boys Soccer Champions. Renaissance led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by junior Yousef Hassin. Hassin added two goals in the second half to earn the hat trick. Senior Sael Olivares added a goal for the Cowboys. Sophomore Mario Ramirez earned the victory in goal. Western (9-3-2) heads to the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1, District 12 playoffs on Wednesday, Oct. 12, against host and second-seeded Dearborn (9-2-3). Cass Tech (4-3-1) will play Grosse Pointe South (3-9-0) in its district opener.
