The Technicians won their third-straight Detroit Public School League Varsity Volleyball Championship with a comeback victory over the Phoenix. The Technicians fell in a back-and-forth first set, 23-25. Sophomore Kimani Johnson took charge in the second set with five kills as the Technicians dominated the set, 25-9. It was senior Darnishia Williams-Sorrell's turn in the third set with six kills for the Techicians. Junior Brandi Seaborn served the final seven points of the set wth three aces for a 25-11 victory for the Technicians. The fourth and final set was a barnburner as neither team led by more than four points. Williams-Sorrell had four kills in the set. With the set tied 28-28, senior Tyra Treadway had a block to put the Technicians ahead by one. The Phoenix would tie the set for the 15th time at 29-29. But Treadway's kill put the Technicians ahead again by one. Johnson finished the set and match with a powerful kill to give the Technicians a 31-29 victory. Johnson finished the set with five kills.

Detroit Cass Technical and Detroit Renaissance advanced to the PSL final with semifinal wins on Tuesday.

25-20, 25-11, 25-9
Kimani Johnson led the Technicians with seven kills, followed by Darnishia Williams with five and Tyra Treadway with four. Amber Greogry had 16 assists and four aces. Mariah Webster led on defense with eight digs followed by Jordan Williams and Darnishia Williams each with six.
Detroit Renaissance (9-0) vs. Detroit Western International (6-3)
25-13, 25-11, 25-16
A'Lexus Everett had 10 kills and two blocks for the Phoenix. Sasha Mayberry had three aces and six kills. Ahnya Hines made 18 digs.

The Technicians won the 2019 Detroit Public School League Junior Varsity Volleyball Championship with a comeback victory over the Phoenix. The Technicians fell in a back-and-forth first set, 24-26. But took control midway through the second set, winning 25-17. The Technicians dominated the tie-breaker, winning 15-3 to earn the title. Cass Tech also had to rally in its semifinal, beating Detroit Western International in three sets. Down 5-10 in the final set, the Technicians scored the final 10 points to earn the victory.
